Answer:

MEMO

From:

To: The President, United States of America

The introduction of the department of the Homeland security was triggered by the occurrence of the worst terror attack that ever happened in the United States. The government needed to do as much as it could to ensure that it pursued the perpetrators of the heinous act. Homeland security introduced measures that would help the government deal with the elements of terror both locally and internationally. Concerns were raised over the implementation of some of the measures since they called for the American people to give up some of their rights, which was contrary to the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution. This provision bars the government from invading private citizens from conducting random searches without any warranty. Click here to order a similar paper

Little Red Riding Hood

Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf
I’m sure you know the story of the little girl who goes into the woods to take her sick grandmother a basket of goodies. Most of you have heard the ending, which is boldly stated, “…and the big bad wolf was shot by the hunter!!!”
We all know the story from the view of Little Red Riding Hood. Yet, because your final project is to help gain an understanding of different points of view, we are going to look at this story from all the characters.
“Little Red Riding Hood went to visit her sick grandmother to take her some food. Along the way she met a wolf, who found out what she was doing and where she was going. Then he made some decisions of his own.
The wolf reached Grandma’s house before Little Red Riding Hood arrived, and tied up Grandma and put her in the closet. He then disguised himself as Grandma, got into her bed, and devised a plan to eat both Red Riding Hood and Grandma.
When Little Red Riding Hood arrived and saw what she thought was Grandma, she made comments about the big eyes, big ears, and big teeth. The wolf answered with the famous words: “Better to see you with my dear” and “Better to hear you with my dear”. The wolf then jumped up and exclaimed, “Better to eat you with my dear!” and prepared to attack Little Red Riding Hood. At that time, a hunter passing by heard the screams of Little Red Riding Hood and rushed to her rescue. He shot the wolf and they lived happily ever after.”

Note: Sometimes children learn this story through a new contrived “non-violent” (i.e. politically correct) ending.

This children’s story is a metaphor for many life experiences. Up to a point, each of the characters does what is only natural for them. The original version, wherein the Hunter kills the Wolf, represents the way in which many real life disputes end (unresolved), and perhaps even violently. The challenge is to see the characters in a new light and recognize there are other points of view. Your task is to find a rational way to have the parties resolve the potential conflict in an original and creative manner.
Your final project assignment is to examine the situation from the perspective of one of the four characters (Little Red Riding Hood, Grandma, the Big Bad Wolf, or the Hunter) and then write an original, rational ending to the story. You must conclude with a “win-win-win-win” situation.
In order to complete this assignment, you will draw upon concepts and tools you have learned during this course. A word bank has been provided for you. Your grade will be based on the following:
• Originality and Creativity-20 points
• Spelling and Grammar-10 points
• Rational depiction of the story’s end from the vantage point of one of the four characters-(concluding with a “win, win, win, win”)-20 points
• Accurate and complete utilization of AT LEAST five concepts/tools from this course (a Word Bank is provided)-50 points
5. No more than four pages; highlight each of the five concepts by placing the term in BOLD the first time the concept is used in your paper.

Answer:

Big Wolf had not eaten for days and was concerned that he would soon die of hunger. He remembered that his last meal was a delicious deer and would not wait catching another one to enjoy the fresh flesh and blood. Big Wolf was determined that this is the day that he would be lucky to catch himself a fat deer that he would eat and spare some for a the coming days. While he was busy looking for deer trails he started feeling as though something was tickling his ears. He would not tell whether he was hearing sounds of song or he was just perceiving things he could not understand. The sounds became clearer and he heard that it was a little girl going to visit her sick grandmother. Big Wolf thought that this was a big opportunity for him to get something to eat and it was much better than the deer he was pursuing. He thought that he should rush to grandma’s house and have the chance to eat the old woman and her granddaughter. Click here to order a similar paper

Significance of GIS systems in social research

The role of geographic knowledge in decision making is vital because it dictates questions regarding places to visit, experiences involved and how to behave in certain places. This makes it a matter of necessity to develop knowledge and understanding of geography as it influences decision making based on people’s relationships and behaviors in certain locations. This is impactful in improving living standards and influences how people should live in various places. Technological applications make it easy to utilize geographical resources such as maps to make intelligent decisions regarding social services. The Geographical Information system is the technological application tool that automates all the resources appropriately for decision making.

The system relies on geographic data that an individual reading a map can select and apply for a specific task. It works based on the thematic map with a table of contents where a reader is able to add several layers of data. The added layers of data represent real-life locations which makes the implementation of project tasks practical. This means that analysts can take a preferred basemap and plot it on a map as layers based on data sets from a selected population. Such layers may be used to indicate the level of education, age, gender, marital status and employment status. This makes GIS suitable in making presentations for any area interest including business investment trends, medical research, or social research.

Notably, many governments have vast amounts of data that are readily available for meaningful analysis. Much of the data is also accompanied by GIS presentations or data-sets that can help provide a better understanding of the presented data. The GIS application is effective because it is able to translate data from diverse sources and present them into a map in an integrated manner. The fact that the application is able to integrate data in many ways makes it a tool that is a must have for research purposes. GIS application packages can be found in commercial vendor stores, government agencies or they are supplied with map files. It is also useful in data collection that utilizes global positioning units that also attach location coordinates to important location features.

The user-friendliness of the GIS maps makes it easily acceptable for data analysis on the map. Moreover, its interactivity allows map users to zoom in and out and scan the map in the manner they prefer. The user can also choose view any features determine the number of features to use and how to present such features. There are GIS systems that are developed to enable users track storms or conduct sophisticated tasks such as detecting mudslide patterns. It can also be used in simple tasks such as establishing and verifying addresses.

The interest of GIS use in social science is on the rise in the determination of the significance if space in understanding phenomena such as unemployment, social deprivation, family dysfunction and crime. These phenomena are evident almost everywhere in the world and the use of GIS is critical in discerning their occurrence. Many social scientists such as demographers are beginning to appreciate the influence of location on certain social issues.

Importantly, there is an increasing adoption of new technological applications that portrays great perspectives of social science. GIS makes it possible for social scientists to practice spatial modelling, spatial analysis, and mapping. This is an indication that location matters especially in establishing that location can influence one’s chances in life. Where one is born and grows up can influence his or her wealth creation abilities. In other cases, location also illustrates an individual’s chances to early death as indicated by Geographer Danny Dorling (Yamey, G., “Study
Shows Growing Inequalities in Health in Britain,” British Medical Journal, 1999, Vol. 319,
p. 1453). Organizations such as the CDC have used the technological application to track malaria in a Kenyan Village in late 2003. They utilized the Integrated Trimble GeoXT Units to simplify data collection.
